Caring Ministries led by Elders/Tom Spry

  • Outreach Communion  - Our Elders take communion monthly to those who cannot get to church on a regular basis.
  • Visitation – Kathleen Dudley, elders and others members visit members who cannot get to church on a regular basis.  Visits are made on the visitor's schedule; some visit monthly, and some visit every other month or so.

Caring Ministries under the Shepherding Committee, led by Nancy King

  • Card ministry – led by Carolyn McCall/Theresa Fulk; meets 9:30 a.m. 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, Room 411/412.  These members take their time to make, write, and send cards for those in the congregation who are experiencing loss, illness, and sometimes joy.
  • Prayer Shawl ministry – led by Nancy King; meets 1:30 p.m. 1st Wednesday of the month, Connection Cafe.  These members knit or crochet shawls and lap blankets for those in the congregation who are experiencing loss, illness, and sometimes joy.  Each prayer shawl or lap blanket is prayed over at their meetings.  Pastors and elders deliver the shawls.
  • Hospital Callers  – led by Theresa Fulk; Kathleen Dudley calls Decatur hospitals on weekdays to let team members know when a church member is in the hospital; team members then visit or telephone or text. Hospitals outside Macon County may be visited when family members make the church aware of a patient there.
  • Grief ministry – Janet Lyman sends out booklets to next-of-kin church members who are grieving a loss and to others by special request.
